Refurnishing for Christmas

on November 22, 2011 in Home Decorating Comments Off

So, it’s that time of year again where everyone gets a little bit festive, and wants nothing more than the comfort of a nice cosy fire and some delicious hot food (and maybe a few drinks as well). Another thing we associate with the modern Christmas is chilling out in front of the television and watching a few heartwarming (or just plain funny) films.

In light of all this, it’s easy to forget that in many cases the easiest way to comfort is a nice soft sofa that you can just sink back into and enjoy! This is all the more reason to refurnish your house (or at least your living room) for the most laid-back, enjoyable Christmas you can imagine. All it takes is a little planning (and a little spending of course – you may just want to wait ‘til the Boxing Day sales and have an extended post-Christmas relaxation session).

Make sure you prioritise, however; what you want is something that allows a good amount of lying down/sinking in while providing an unimpeded view of the TV – after all, who needs to be sociable when It’s a Wonderful Life takes its rightful position as the centre of attention?

If you’re on the ball (and living with someone), you can even combine refurnishing with present buying; how about looking into lounge chairs for that other half, adding comfort and happiness in the form of a present?

One word of advice, however: if you do go to the effort of getting some new furniture to make your Christmas that little bit more laid-back and enjoyable, don’t buy anything too festive that you’ll have to cover up after a couple of weeks… you can be comfortable all year long and use the festive season as an excuse… everybody does!
